I’m using an import agents to help get my new car into the UK from Japan, and this morning I got a letter from HM Revenue and Customs, at which point I had to change my underpants and then open it, turns out it’s this form.

Presumably I need to send it to the ce who are going to be registering my car for me, but what does the form actually mean, does it mean the car is now actually in the UK and has been seen by them, or is the form issued in advance?
If it’s actually in the UK I want to go down to Bristol and actually see the bloody thing that I’ve spent so much money on. Also the Import value field on the form is blank. I don’t think you need worry about blank entries on the form, once HMRC &ce issued it then you’re good. See here for importing write-up: The last step in importing is to get your car UK registered. To do this you need to apply to the DVLA, you need to get them to send you a form, and you also need: Oh yeah, if someone else is registering it for you then you should send them theI imagine.
So it’s landed, F&e wasn’t expecting it until the 13th though! Guess I need to ring the people who are going to register it for me before they fit a foglight in a way other than the way I want.
Registration with the DVLA / IVA and NOVA information
Their standard way is to put a flush fitting one in the bumper, I want a red bulb in the reverse light As for the speedo conversion, I planned to leave it in KMH and use the Defi HUD thing.
Will I be ok just taking them the manual for that and showing how you attach it and then switch it over to MPH? I registered my car by post, you could try sending a photocopy of the relevant page in the manual and a note explaining that this is going to be your speedo, I guess. Do you have the receipt for the Defi?
Or you may get lucky anyway. Another question, will the Defi defeat the JDM mph limiter?

You may or may not want to remove this, if you do then a speedo conversion chip will do the job at the same time as the mph conversion. The Defi will not defeat the limiter, I don’t have any plans of driving that fast anyway, cc&e having it intact is a good defence against massively inaccurate speed cameras.
The reason I don’t want to convert the speedo is that the Defi has presets for most JDM cars so you don’t have to calibrate it, by tinkering with the speed signal I’ll have to manually calibrate the Defi and then whenever I want to switch it to KMH I’ll have to recalibrate it.
The other option of course, do they make any device to convert the other way? I can sort out the signal to the Defi that way then.
No receipt for the Defi, I bought it off a forum member here, via eBay. Oh and the Ceffy uses a speedo cable anyway! Does it require an ESVA? If so then you’ll have to fit a proper fog light and convert the speedo as I know VOSA won’t pass converted reverse lights.
C&E form, what do I do with it? [Archive] – SXOC Bulletin Board
Well I just rang the company doing the imports for me. As it’s being done as a personal import, they’re going to send me a “registration pack” consisting of all the documents I need to take to the DVLA local orifice along with that form.
Then job done C&s guess. The reason I mention the fog ce& is because this company’s standard procedure is to fit a flush fitting one in the bumper, so I’ve just rung them up again and told them not to do that as I hate them.
